ZHUANGZI vs. KALININGRAD

The Zhuangzi, written in the 3rd c. BCE, is considered to be one of the two main texts of Taoism. Its main themes are spontaneity in action and freedom from the human world and its conventions. This project juxtaposes sentences from the book, most of which reflect the above-mentioned themes, with images from the modern Russian city of Kaliningrad. The project is meant to make the viewer contemplate not only how the Zhuangzi’s ideas relate to life in this particular city, but also how they relate to our lives in general.
